Camping.

campingmap

Camping is available at the site from Friday evening at 5:00 pm.

Access to the site will not be granted before that time.

If the gate is locked when you arrive, please call the onsite club officer.

For Friday 24th May, that will be Dom Tranquille: 07879 868 988

After entering through the green gate, with the track right in front of you, take a left turn through the “bund”, then turn immediately to your right. The camping area is ahead of you marked out with fencing. A clear path for car access must be kept open at all times.

Camping charges are £5, which will be donated to St Barnabas Hospice, the local charity which we support.

Please help us to help you by disposing of your waste sensibly. No open fires please.

In deference to our neighbors, please refrain from practice on Friday night.

The track will be open for practice from circa 9:00 am Saturday morning.

Infrastructure

There is a public toilet block on the site. Water is available from a tap situated outside the public toilet block. Both are shown on the map above. We also now have 3 portaloos inside our grounds, one of which is designated female only.

The pitting area is within our fence.

We have no covered pitting area. Please feel free to bring and erect gazebos.

You may pit from the camping area, but be aware that the track is not in sight from there and the PA may be difficult to hear.

We have no mains electricity. Generators are allowed in the camping area and the pits. Please site generators in the pits on the Left hand side, preferably behind the shed. This leaves one side of the pits as a relatively quiet zone.

Please be respectful of other peoples desire for quiet, and keep the usage of generators to a minimum. No generators are to run after 9:00pm at night.

Food and drink.

Teas, coffees, soft drinks, and food snacks such as burgers and bacon sandwiches will be available from our onsite kitchen behind race control, on both Saturday and Sunday.

There are a number of small restaurants in Shoreham, a 10 minute walk over the bridge, including an Italian, a number of Indian curry houses, and a burger takeaway.

There are half a dozen pubs around the track area, most of which sell pub grub.

B&Bs

There are a number of Bed and Breakfasts in Shoreham, and a few more in easy driving range. Google “Shoreham by Sea, B&B” for a list.

Know your committee

Ray Briddock Chairman

I started racing in 2001 at the late age of 40.
I had bought a Tamiya rally car for messing around with, and a friend invited me to go see him race one Friday evening at Horsham.
"Bring your car. We'll have a mess around in the car park", he said.
Next thing I know, he's booked me in to the meeting, and I'm out in the first race!
I finished the evening... not last, and never looked back.
My first real touring car was the AE TC3, which served me well, although it had a propensity to break wishbones if you so much as looked at it,
Then after racing at Horsham for about 2 years, I bit the bullet and bought a new Xray T1.
At about the same time, I discovered a little tarmac track at Adur Rec while out walking.
Outdoor racing on tarmac seemed more "real" than the carpet I had been used to, and I became a regular at Adur.
Pretty soon, I had bought a Nitro RS4, "Just to try", and soon found myself Nitro Club Champion.
It was about this time that I was talked into putting myself forward for the Committee as Club Chairman, a post which I had been assured by the outgoing Chairman as "Largely ceremonial".
I currently own 13 model cars in various states of disrepair, and I even get to race one or two from time to time.

I got my first car when is was 10 years old for a Christmas present it was a Tamyia sand buggy that I was not allowed to use unless my dad was with me ,as back in them days it was a lot of money . so 32 years on I got my next car which was a Tamyia TL01 from SMCC and I friend of my found that there was a club which raced RC Cars at Ricardos car park on a Sunday, The name of the club was Adur model car club

I went a few times and got hooked into it, now 10 years on im still loving the hobby and in 2004 I put myself forward for to committee as the secretary which I was voted in by the members back them , here I’am now in 2011 as the vice chairman and still enjoying the hobby

My first car was a Tamiya off road buggy back in 86 but never raced it. I first started racing a RC car at Ricardos car park in 2001. The track was made up of scaffold planks and plastic. I became the treasurer in 2005 6 years later I am still here.

I started about 4 years ago when my wife bought me a monster truck for a birthday present. The idea was to keep me out of the house while she was studying for a MSC. This was great fun and kept me quiet for hours and more importantly out of the house!!

My father in law then mentioned there was a track down at Shoreham rec so the pair of us went down there after he had dug out his old rc car and got it going. This again was great fun but of course the next natural progression was to go down on a race day and see what it was all about. This then led to me buying my first 1/10 touring car and I’ve never looked back since.

Why did I join the committee as webmaster? I still ask myself that question regularly, all joking aside it is hard work but very rewarding.

My first was a Tamiya Holiday Buggy. when I was 15. 25 years later and about 20 cars on I am about to buy another holiday buggy for my son. Like all of us I bought for a bit of fun with a few friends and many years later attended my first race day, did awfully but could not wait for the next one. Here I am years later, a little wiser but possibly not too much better at the driving part! 40 years young, now on about my 5th childhood.

I started with R/C cars over ten years ago when I bought a 14th scale Nikko to mess around with my father and brother in parking lots and around the estate. After a visit to Switzerland’s premiere toy and model fair in late 2006, I came home with my first ‘proper’ electric touring car, a Kyosho PureTen Alpha. Yet to find a local club to race at, I continued parking-lot racing. Then one day in February 2007 I came across a local model car club. I booked into the next regional race with no knowledge what so ever (an interesting experience to say the least to the point where I didn’t even know of tyre additive and spent my first qualifying run drifting around every corner!) and finished 8th in the Clubman class C final. I continued to race touring cars for the following 3 years and claimed 4th place overall in my final year in the regional 13.5 class. I then retired from touring cars to move on to 8th rallycross where raced in the Swiss nationals for the next two years where I finished 28th and 9th in the overall standings in the Clubman class. University was my next step in life so I moved to Brighton where I am currently based and regularly race 10th I.C. and touring cars at Adur. I am now here as the club’s Circuit Representative and part-time race director!
